Marranunggu rapper Yung Milla will take his music to a national audience after being selected as a contestant on the new season of The Voice Australia.

The Northern Territory hip-hop artist is set to make his commercial television debut when the series premieres on Channel 7 on August 2.

Known for his storytelling and energetic performances, Yung Milla has built a growing following through a string of independent releases, with his latest single, 'Higher', earning airplay on triple j.

His appearance on The Voice Australia marks another milestone in a career that has continued to gather momentum both on and off the stage.

National Indigenous Times has previously reported on Yung Milla's work mentoring young Aboriginal people across the Northern Territory, which saw him named the Young Achiever at the 2025 NT Performing Arts Awards.

The publication also covered his involvement in "BARUNGA", a collaboration with fellow Marranunggu artist J-MILLA and emerging musicians K2 the B and CJR, inspired by the Barunga Statement and developed to promote cultural pride and connection among young people.

In announcing his appearance on The Voice Australia, promoters said the new season would give audiences the chance to see another side of the rapper's musical ability.

"Already in demand as a boldly energetic performer and recognised for his important youth mentorship and advocacy work, Yung Milla's appearance on The Voice AU is set to showcase not only his rap and performance abilities, but his strong vocal chops and evolution as a hip hop artist on a mainstream platform," they said.

The series begins on August 2 on Channel 7.
