Parrtjima Festival has announced a bumper music lineup for its annual Red Centre showpiece in 2023 starting April 7.
Visitors are destined to take in a diverse range of some of the country's best Indigenous performers and lesser-known gems to accompany 10 nights of expressive light displays over country, songlines and skies in Mparntwe (Alice Springs).
Emily Wurramara, JK-47, Paul Ah Chee, Richard J Frankland, Discovering Leerpeen, Karnage n Darknis, The Merindas, Eastern Reggae Band, KAIIT, Docker River Band, Radical Son, Rowdy Birds and The Andrew Gurruwiwi Band round out the artists taking to the stage.
Arnhem Land artist Andrew Gurruwiwi says it's a privilege to play for a Territory crowd.
"We love playing for a home crowd and this is a great opportunity to rock the red dirt dance floor of Desert Park," he said.
"Playing outside in front of the MacDonnell Ranges really is such a unique and amazing experience."
Ahead of the national vote later this year, Parrtjima has jumped on to support the push for constitutional change.
Their theme for 2023, Listen to the Heart, draws from Rene Kulitja's Uluru Statement artwork Uluru-Ku Tjukurrpa (The Uluru Story of connection), inviting a coming together of people, contemplation and reflection.
Parrtjima Festival runs from April 7-16.
Applications to attend the free event are open online.
