Kokatha, Naghiralgal and Dauareb-Meriam man Patty Mills will continue his basketball career in Europe after signing with French EuroLeague club LDLC ASVEL for the 2026-27 season.

The move will reunite the Australian guard with former San Antonio Spurs teammate Tony Parker, who will coach ASVEL after taking charge of the French club.

Mills and Parker spent several seasons together in San Antonio and were both part of the Spurs team which won the 2014 NBA championship.

The 38-year-old arrives at ASVEL after spending the 2025-26 season with Spanish club La Laguna Tenerife, where he produced several strong performances during the Liga Endesa playoffs.

Mills scored 36 points against Barcelona in the semi-finals and had earlier helped Tenerife eliminate Real Madrid from the playoffs.

The signing also ends speculation around a possible return to the NBL, with Australian clubs linked to Mills during the off-season before he chose to remain in Europe.

ASVEL confirmed the signing on Tuesday, with Mills set to play in the EuroLeague for the first time in his career.

Mills expressed his enthusiasm during a call with Parker after the move was confirmed.

"Whatever you need bala (brother) I'm happy to be apart of this and everything you're building, I'm pumped, we're pumped," Mr Mills said.

The pair will now work together in a different capacity after sharing the court during one of the most successful periods in Spurs history.

Mills spent 16 seasons in the NBA after being selected by the Portland Trail Blazers in the 2009 draft, including 10 seasons with San Antonio.

He later played for Brooklyn, Atlanta, Miami, Utah and the Los Angeles Clippers before moving to Spain in 2026.

Mills is also a five-time Olympian and helped lead the Boomers to their first Olympic men's basketball medal with bronze at the Tokyo Games.
