Hawthorn utility and Yorta Yorta man Jarman Impey has helped to inspire the design for his club's 2023 Indigenous guernsey, which was unveiled during the week.
The jumper is expected to be worn during the AFL's Sir Doug Nichols Round, which is scheduled across two weeks in late May.
The jumper was officially designed by Wagiman man and Indigenous artist Nathan Patterson with the inspiration coming from Impey.
The design is a representation of the Hawthorn family and is inclusive of those who pull on the guernsey to play and those who cheer from far and wide.
"The Hawk shows pride and strength in the protection of our people and the land on which we play and cheer," read a post on Hawthorn's official Facebook page.
"The many meeting places lead to the home ground where we can come together as one to share in the pride and passion the family has for the brown and gold."
The 27-year-old Impey said that he felt honoured to be involved in the design process for this special jumper.
"It was an absolute pleasure and honour to design a guernsey for this great club and represent my Yorta mob, family, friends and community," Impey said in a post on Hawthorn's social media.
"The design is meant for everyone to connect with and align their lives and lifestyles with – I hope you like it."
Impey has played 156 AFL games having started his career with Port Adelaide before joining the Hawks during the 2017 trade period.
The Hawks are set to face West Coast in Round 10 and St Kilda in Round 11.
The jumper is available to be purchased via Hawthorn's official website.
