Minjungbal Gudjinburra rapper JK-47 will headline a live First Nations concert at Parramatta Park for the annual Burramatta NAIDOC festival.
JK-47 (Jacob Paulson) will be part of an event featuring outdoor movie screenings, traditional arts and craft workshops, cultural activities and food trucks; all as part of the city's Warami program.
The free event coincides with NAIDOC week and will be held from 10am - 4pm on July 13.
JK-47, a former Unearthed Artist of the Year, has made an impact on the Australian music scene with his performances that feature stories of Indigenous history, culture, and identity.
"It's such an honour to perform at Burramatta this NAIDOC, there's always a huge crowd in Parramatta," he said.
"I can't wait to see everyone together and perform this new album for you all."
Joining JK-47 on stage are R&B and Hip Hop artists Blanche, Jada Weazel and Kootsie Don with singer and songwriter Akala Newman emceeing the concert.
City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Pierre Esber said NAIDOC Week is about celebrating First Nations culture, as well as acknowledging the rich history of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
"Burramatta NAIDOC is a jam-packed day of family-friendly activities, food and traditional workshops that celebrate First Nations stories, art and performances," Cr Esber said.
"It's a chance for our community to celebrate the enduring strength and vitality of First Nations culture, make stronger connections with each other and to Country.
"This will mark the end of our Warami program for 2024, so I encourage everyone to join us for a day outdoors celebrating our rich heritage."
