First Nations lifestyle brand and organisation House of Darwin debuted their new collection this month.

Larrakia Country is inspired by the generations of Black stockmen and women whose resilience, skill and spirit helped build the Northern Territory.

Long before the mythology of the American West travelled around the world, there were stories being written across the north of Australia. Stories of cattle stations and stock camps. Horses, buffalo, red dirt and long roads. Of Aboriginal men and women whose knowledge of Country, horsemanship and resilience became inseparable from the pastoral history of the Territory.

Larrakia Country is House of Darwin's interpretation of that story. It is about recognising that the Australian frontier has its own identity, its own characters and its own stories worth telling.

House of Darwin has always existed to tell stories from the Northern Territory in a way that can travel beyond it.

House of Darwin founder Shaun Edwards said Larrakia Country is House of Darwin's way of taking the stories he grew up around and telling them through a contemporary lens.

"I grew up next to the Gunbalanya meatworks, surrounded by the people, stories and landscapes that shaped the cattle industry across the Top End," Edwards told National Indigenous Times.

"Larrakia Country is our way of taking the stories I grew up around and telling them through a contemporary lens.

"For House of Darwin, it's about showing that these stories are still alive, and they're still shaping who we are today."
