Anglicare Southern Queensland has announced the appointment of Jason Ware as the Chief Operating Officer for the Children, Youth, and Families division.

In this newly established role, the proud Bidjara and Gomeroi man's experience will contribute to the organisation's pursuit of strategic goals, with a specific focus on addressing challenges related to homelessness, out-of-home care, and domestic and family violence.

Anglicare Southern Queensland CEO Sue Cooke expressed her satisfaction with the appointment, highlighting Mr Ware's potential to drive the organisation's mission forward.

"Jason brings over 25 years' experience working in the social services sector, including a strong background in business and community development across Queensland, South Australia, and the Northern Territory," she said.

Prior to joining Anglicare Southern Queensland, Mr Ware was the State Director at Save the Children Australia for 13 years, and Country Director at Fred Hollows Foundation.

His contributions in these roles have made a significant impact on the field of international development.

"With strong cultural connections to several Aboriginal Communities across the country, five of them in Queensland, Jason's experiences and identity will greatly contribute to our mission of creating a long- lasting impact for the communities we serve," Ms Cooke said.

"I warmly welcome Jason to the Anglicare Southern Queensland team."

Mr Ware is eager to highlight Anglicare Southern Queensland's work with children, youth, and families.

"I've been committed to breaking the cycle of poverty, social issues and inappropriate social structures imposed on minority groups, for as long as I can remember," he said.

"Anglicare is in a unique position that it truly connects with people at every stage of their life.

"I'm looking forward to creating additional and appropriate pathways for people to engage with Anglicare, no matter their stage of life, cultural or socio economic background."

Mr Ware aims to collaborate with Government and industry partners to find lasting solutions for better supporting vulnerable individuals in the community.

"I have already had initial conversations with other providers I am looking forward to collaborating further with Government, sector partners and First Nations organisations in Southeast Queensland," he said.

"I'm aligned to the Anglicare values of love, care, hope and humility and know they will guide us in achieving positive outcomes in the complex and challenging areas of youth homelessness, domestic and family violence and out of home care."
