Proud Kuku Yalanji and Birri Gubba woman and Olympic champion Cathy Freeman has been announced as a keynote speaker at the Northern Territory's October Business Month.
Freeman, who famously won gold in the 400 metres at the Sydney Olympics in 2000, will be joined by former co-host of Channel 7's Sunrise, David Koch; world expert in artificial intelligence Dr Allan D. Thompson; host of the ABC rural affairs program Landline, Pip Courtney; and fellow ABC stablemate and host of Australian Story, Leigh Sales.
The opening keynote address will be live streamed to Alice Springs, Katherine, Nhulunbuy and Tennant Creek with the full October Business Month (OBM) program to be released in early September.
Celebrating its 30th year, the OBM event will feature workshops across the Top End, that will explore different trends and themes to grow local businesses.
Northern Territory Minister for Business and Jobs, Joel Bowden, said Freeman is a national treasure.
"She has inspired generations of Australians to achieve anything they put their minds to - I can't wait to hear her story at these events," he said.
"The NT Government is bringing some of Australia's most celebrated and inspiring leaders to the Territory for October Business Month.
"In October 2024, Territorians have an incredible opportunity - these absolute legends in their fields are not to be missed.
"This year's October Business Month program has something to offer for businesses of all industries, sizes and stages of maturity."
Early bird tickets for the keynote speaker events are now on sale via the October Business Month Website.
