Demons defender Steven May has been ruled out of featuring during round two as he recovers from a training injury, while Brisbane will wait to make a call on Charlie Cameron ahead of their round two clash against the Eagles at home this weekend.
The premiership defender suffered a fractured larynx during training last week which ruled him out of Sunday's narrow loss to GWS.
Melbourne face North Melbourne at Marvel Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
"Based on the advice from specialists, he didn't play on the weekend, and he will be unavailable for this week," Dees AFL high performance manager Selwyn Griffith updated on Tuesday.
"We have a follow up review with the specialists this week, which will guide his return.
"Thankfully, it's not as bad as the one that (captain Max Gawn) sustained earlier in pre-season, and we do have some evidence to go off from previously managing an injury like this."
The Lions maintained the wood over the Swans with a four-point win to kick off their season in 30 plus degree conditions at the SCG.
Cameron was a late out with calf tightness.
The 30-year-old trained on Tuesday and will again on Thursday as he attempts to prove his fitness for the clash.
Across his career, Cameron has kicked 19 goals in 11 matches against West Coast - who handed Gold Coast their biggest-ever win in a disappointing start to their campaign in round one.
There's no news on smooth-moving half back Keidean Coleman as he continues a return from an ACL injury suffered in 2024's Opening Round, which ruled him out of the Lions' entire premiership triumph.
At Essendon, small forward Alwyn Davey Jr will be available for selection should he complete this week's main training session, returning from a knee complaint which required surgery during the offseason
The Bombers fell four goals short against Hawthorn - who started their year with two wins, on Friday night.
Speaking on Monday night, Bulldogs coach Luke Beveridge further muddied the waters on Jamarra Ugle-Hagan's short-term footy future.
Asked if the former no.1 draft pick will feature at all in 2025, Beverdige told AFL360 he "can't answer that definitely" in a short admission.
"We're hoping…time will tell," the coach said.

Ugle-Hagan was not included in the Bulldogs' lineup for their two-goal win over North Melbourne on Saturday, following interrupted preparations for the 2025 season.
The 22-year-old spent time away from the club in the pre-season after been granted flexible training arrangements as he manages personal circumstances.
Bulldogs skipper Marcus Bontempelli last week reiterated comments the club was putting Ugle-Hagan's wellbeing ahead of football.
New rumours have linked Geelong, according to Herald Sun journalist Jon Ralph, as a potential new home for the key forward his future at the Dogs remains unclear.
Bulldogs defender Liam Jones is 1-3 weeks away from a return after a serious hamstring strain suffered during a preseason camp, according to the club.
Magpies forward Ash Johnson fractured his left fibula in a VFL preseason game at the weekend, ruling him out for a period of time.
