Miss Kaninna has announced a seven-date headline tour in support of her debut mixtape 'BLACKPRINT'.

The proud Yorta Yorta, Dja Dja Wurrung, Kalkadoon and Yirendali sovereign woman and artist will take the tour across Australia from August to September.

'BLACKPRINT' is due for release on August 21 via Soul Has No Tempo / AWAL Recordings.

Miss Kaninna described the mixtape title as a statement of identity and self-determination.

"We know we're the key to start of civilisation, we're literally the blueprint and we don't care if white people agree or not, we aren't gonna wait for you," Miss Kaninna said.

The six-track mixtape will include recent single MOB TIES and guest appearances from Kobie Dee and Jamahl Yami.

Produced by Miss Kaninna, with additional production from Lucy Blomkamp and executive production from Nikodimos, 'BLACKPRINT' draws from hip-hop while moving through funk, soul, R&B, rock, punk, grunge and club music.

'HANDOUT' continues the old-school hip-hop sound heard on 'MOB TIES', with the track focused on Black power, rage and the double standards of crime and prosecution in Australia.

Miss Kaninna said the track came together through trust and shared history.

"'HANDOUT' looks at themes of privilege of white "Australia", it's about black power and reclaiming identity and rage, especially with the double standards of crime and prosecution in so-called 'Australia'," she said.

"I make music based off how the song is supposed to be and the song developed in an organic way, which - art based on a feeling and if it becomes a single, that's a bonus.

"I've been wanting to make a track with my brother Jamahl (Yami) since I met him 3.5 years ago."

The BLACKPRINT AUS Tour will begin in Perth on August 21 before closing in Castlemaine on September 19.

Tour dates:

Friday, August 21 - Perth - Rosemount Hotel

Friday, August 28 - Darwin - Mayberry

Saturday, August 29 - Alice Springs - Alice Springs Brewing Co

Friday, September 11 - Brisbane - The Brightside
