Recognised as a creative force and compelling performer whose influence extends beyond the stage, proud Yorta Yorta, Dja Dja Wurrung, Kalkadoon and Yirendali woman and artist, MISS KANINNA, has shared her first release of 2026 with a new track titled 'MOB TIES'.
Described as unrelenting "homage to hip-hop and my people in the struggle", the single arrives ahead of Miss Kaninna headlining SPLORE Festival on Friday and supporting De La Soul nationally across five dates.
'MOB TIES' was co-produced by Miss Kaninna, 18YOMAN (Lil Nas X, Kid Cudi, Sampa The Great, Rico Nasty) and Ethan Parodi, mixed/engineered by UNO Stereo (Busta Rhymes, Kaiit, Khalid, Bliss N Eso, Jada Weazel).
The track featues Miss Kaninna's signature playful approach to production, weaving quirks of sizzling pans, car revs, and animal sounds.
When speaking on the new track, Miss Kaninna expressed the meaning behind 'MOB TIES'.
"I wanted to show the strength of mob and solidarity between all Black people," she said.
"I want Blackfullas and immigrants to feel the sense of belonging they deserve and to give a very clear message to racist white supremacist groups, you and your rhetoric are not welcome here."
Ms Kaninna said in her former years her and her family "made connections over the whole of the country with different mobs".
"I know who I am and know I come from a very proud staunch family line on both my fathers and mother's sides," she said.
"My identity is not based on a trend or a 'feeling', my identity is a reflection of my strong bloodline."
She said 'MOB TIES' also touches on her perspective of white supremacy in Australia.
"Not only am I Aboriginal but I also have Mauritian, Scottish heritage on my mother's side and Chinese on my father's, which reflects the immigration of the 1800s," she said.
"It's an observation of British colonialism, claiming rights over this land when sovereignty was never ceded."

With a singular reputation for her ability to create space to rouse rage and joy in equal measure 'MOB TIES' and 'BACKSTREETS' follow a mammoth 2025 which saw Miss Kaninna named one of NME's Essential 100 Emerging Artists, nab her second J Award nomination (Live Act of the Year) and score 3x ARIA Award nominations for her sold-out Dawg In Me national tour and her critically acclaimed debut EPKANINNA (2024).
After being nominated for Best Hip-Hop/Rap Release, winning Best Independent Hip-Hop EP/Album and Breakthrough Independent Artist of the Year at the 2025 Australian Independent Music (AIR) Awards, Miss Kannina's list of accolades continues to grow.
Jumping between hip-hop, R&B, rock and pop, Miss Kaninna's genre-defying approach provides a staunch foundation for a new artist with an urgency for change - performing in prestige venues such as London's Camden Assembly and the Sydney Opera House and at festivals includuing St Jerome's Laneway Festival, The Great Escape UK, Bluesfest, supporting Thelma Plum, Hiatus Kaiyote, ONEFOUR, and M.I.A.
Miss Kaninna delivers every performance an uncompromising statement of identity and truth. In 2026, she continues ongoing work with initiatives supporting Indigenous, immigrant, LGBTQI+ and all women's rights - with each milestone and movement solidifying her already-won place as a voice and presence who commands attention.
