Leading First Nations arts training organisation NAISDA has announced the opening of their 2027 intake.
NAISDA encourages Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people to apply for its 2027 intake with the launch of a new course aimed at those interested in live performance production.
As part of its ongoing legacy, and 50 year celebration the college has introduced a new course focusing on live production and technical skills: The CUA40425 Certificate IV in Live Production and Technical Services creates a new pathway into the creative sector and sits alongside NAISDA's existing Dance Practice qualifications.
NAISDA chief executive Kim Walker AM said it will open NAISDA to mob interested in careers across the performing arts.
"We know there are young people out there who are passionate about the arts, but don't necessarily see themselves as dancers or choreographers," he said.
"Obviously that's how NAISDA started, but as we celebrate 50 years we look to the future and are expanding our curriculum.
"Students will gain practical skills in lighting, sound, staging, vision, hands-on industry experience, as well as cultural learning with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and Cultural Tutors.
"I am excited to see what our first cohort in Live Production will bring, and encourage people who know someone with an interest to apply."
For dancers and performers looking to take centre stage, NAISDA continues to offer four nationally accredited Certificate IV to Advanced Diploma pathways in Dance Practice for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
NAISDA's training experience is unlike any other in Australia, producing outstanding performers, and now expanding opportunities for future live production professionals.
Cultural practice and knowledge have always been a core part of training, strengthening identity, storytelling and creative expression.
Based on Darkinjung Country at Kariong, NSW, NAISDA delivers an accredited, culturally grounded curriculum that "embeds the depth and diversity of Indigenous Knowings within a rigorous contemporary performing arts framework".
NAISDA is a proud member of the Australian Government's ARTS8, the national collective representing Australia's leading performing arts training organisations. NAISDA receives lead funding from the Australian Government through the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts, Office for the Arts, with additional support from the NSW Department of Education (Smart and Skilled) and philanthropic, corporate and private partners.
NAISDA graduates are recognised nationally and internationally for their artistic excellence, cultural leadership and professional achievement.
Applications for the 2027 intake are now open and will close on the 31st of August 2026
