Member for Kimberley Divina D'Anna has been returned for four more years in the role as WA Labor won a landslide victory in the Western Australian state election on Saturday.

With 41.3 per cent of the vote counted early on Sunday, Ms D'Anna had 59 per cent of the vote on a two-party preferred basis, with the Liberal candidate Darren Spackman on 41 per cent.

Across the state Labor is set to win at least 40 seats, needing 30 to retain government, with the Liberals on track in five, the Nationals four, and ten seats still in doubt.

Ms D'Anna, a Yawuru, Nimanburr, and Bardi woman raised in Broome, has been a popular and effective Member for the Kimberley and an enthusiastic supporter of locally-led programs and initiatives.

"I feel quite excited and I am feeling quite grateful and humble that the people of the Kimberley chose me, a Kimberley Aboriginal woman, to represent them again for the next four years," she said on Saturday night.

"There has been a line of trailblazers that come from the Kimberley, especially women, and being re-elected on International Women's Day is a bonus.

"I come from a matriarchal family and to really honour my two grandmothers who gave so much to me in my younger years and really set my foundation years, and my mother, I have the biggest respect for them. I got a bit emotional when I was talking about them before.

"I was thinking of them the other day, how proud they would have been, and probably still are - looking down at me. One of my grandmothers, she was nicknamed the lady in red. People say 'you're always wearing red', and I say 'I was wearing red before I got this job'. That's how much she influenced me."

Ms D'Anna has been a champion of Indigenous-led solutions, including Marra Worra Worra's highly successful 'Night Place' youth centre in Fitzroy Crossing.
