Corinda State School held its NAIDOC celebrations on Wednesday, bringing students together for a day of cultural activities and learning on Country.
Located beside Benarrawa (Oxley Creek), the school places a strong emphasis on its connection to the land, acknowledging the significance of the Jagera Country on which it is built.
The event opened with an Acknowledgement of Country, delivered by Torres Strait Islander student Herlina.
A musical performance from Bundjalung and Iningai woman Georgia Corowa followed, who sang traditional songs with the students.
Ms Corowa recently performed in HERstory, a celebration of Blak music and excellence presented at QPAC as part of Clancestry.
"I am celebrating NAIDOC with the children today," she said.
"It's amazing that schools celebrate this week, it's a beautiful thing - especially singing songs with them.
"It was really fun - I loved watching the kids participating and singing along."

Throughout the day students engaged in a range of hands-on activities across the school grounds.
They included traditional Aboriginal games, dot painting using locally sourced ochre, and yarning circles led by staff to promote awareness of Indigenous perspectives.
The school's Deputy Principal, Brigitte Guenzler-Gilbert said the day reflected Corinda's ongoing commitment to learning through culture and nature.
"It was good to see the kids engaging and connecting to Country and culture," she said.
"Our beliefs are we want our students to be learning in nature - we value the land on which Corinda State School has been built.
"We use the land to educate and engage our students in learning."

While the school has a small Indigenous student population, staff say this makes cultural learning even more important.
Head of Curriculum Trudi Tobin said the NAIDOC celebrations reflect Corinda's focus on cultural pride, with the school's Little Mob students leading the way.
"NAIDOC is a time where Corinda's Little Mob take the lead and share their strength," Ms Tobin said.
"Their pride in culture is on show for all to see."
