Champion Olympian and community leader Nova Peris OAM and her daughter Destiny Batman-Peris will provide unique insights into the much-loved Garma Festival this year as Special Correspondents for the National Indigenous Times.
Ms Peris announced the appointment with a post on Instagram on Monday.
"Did you know 'Yothu Yindi' means 'mother and child' in the language of the Yolngu people of Arnhem Land? Well my daughter @destiny_peris and I are thrilled that we will be special correspondents reporting for the @natindigtimes at the Garma Festival. We will be doing interviews and reporting daily, keeping you up to date from Gulkula, a significant Gumatj ceremonial site in northeast Arnhem Land. Mother & daughter, coach & athlete, now special correspondent reporters!" she wrote.
National Indigenous Times Chief Operations Officer Reece Harley said the newspaper was proud to be represented by Ms Peris and Ms Batman-Peris at the festival.
"We are delighted that Olympic Gold Medalist and community champion Nova Peris OAM, and her daughter Destiny, will be Special Correspondents for the National Indigenous Times at this year's Garma Festival," he said.
"Nova and Destiny will conduct a range of interviews with key community leaders across the week, capture the stories of Garma attendees from all over the country, and celebrate the history, culture and wisdom of the Yolngu community of north east Arnhem Land."
