Alastair Clarkson will resume his post as North Melbourne coach after stepping away from the club in May due to the personal toll taken by the Hawthorn racism investigation.
Clarkson was senior coach of the Hawks at the time of alleged racist conduct by himself and other coaching staff at the club endured by Indigenous former players.
Current Brisbane coach Chris Fagan and footy department staff Jason Burt were also central to the allegations.
All three denied the claims against them, with the months-long probe into the club dropped by the AFL on May 30.
Clarkson's signature at North came just days before the allegations became known in grand final week last year.
The Kangaroos coach will arrive back at Ardern St next week, the club confirmed on Friday.
Clarkson is set to "reintegrate" into the role over the next month.
Interim coach Brett Ratten will continue to operate as senior coach, including game days, in the short term.
"We are pleased that Alastair has been able to get the support he needs to return to the club and work towards doing what he loves most and does best – coach the team," North Melbourne president Dr Sonja Hood said.
"We've had some really good dialogue with Alastair and we're all comfortable he's ready to make a return into the football department ahead of getting back in the senior coach's chair later this season.
"In the meantime, Brett Ratten and the rest of the coaching group will continue to lead and develop the playing group."
