DEM MOB have released their new single 'Break Bread', continuing their run as one of the country's leading Indigenous hip-hop groups.
Formed in the remote APY Lands of South Australia, DEM MOB are the first hip-hop group to rap in Pitjantjatjara.
The group have built a reputation beyond music, working as educators and community advocates while using hip-hop to empower young First Nations people.
'Break Bread' reflects a shift in tone, focusing on growth, healing and reconciliation.
Built on classic hip-hop foundations, the track explores the role of forgiveness and conversation in overcoming division within communities.
The group described the message behind the track.
"Break Bread reflects a deeper season of growth for us, not just as artists but as people," DEM MOB said.
"We come from places where survival can build walls around the heart, where pain gets handed down like heirlooms and silence often speaks louder than love.
"As time's gone on, we've learned strength isn't always in how hard you stand, sometimes it's in how gently you heal."
The single also marks a broader evolution in the group's direction.
DEM MOB said the track captures a shift toward unity and leadership grounded in experience.
"DEM MOB will always stand on culture, truth and resilience, but right now we're walking with a different kind of power," DEM MOB said.
"We still carry the scars, but we don't let them steer the wheel anymore.
"We've learned leadership isn't always the loudest voice in the room, sometimes it's the calm one that brings people together."
The release follows a period of sustained growth for the group on both national and international stages.
From their breakout single 'Still No Justice', which addressed deaths in custody, racism and youth hope in Australia, DEM MOB have performed at major festivals and venues while continuing to centre community in their work.
Their next focus is on a debut album and expanding their reach further.
The group outlined their plans for the year ahead.
"For 2026, we're excited because it feels like the start of something bigger than us," DEM MOB said.
"We're releasing our debut album, and that means everything to us.
"It's more than just a project, it's years of story, sacrifice, growth, culture and belief all poured into one body of work."
'Break Bread' is available via all major streaming platforms now.
