Mak Mak Marranungu artist J-MILLA has recently unveiled his latest single, 'GAMMON', marking the beginning of a series of releases for 2023.

'GAMMON' builds upon the upbeat vibe of 'On My Soul' and showcases J-MILLA's skills as a performer while highlighting his ongoing growth as an artist.

The track is all about having fun and allows J-MILLA to shine within a well-crafted arrangement, produced by Hxwly Beatzz.

"I just threw this song together, had some fun with it because I love the word, have used it all my life and I wanted to pay homage to it," he said.

"It's a funny thing; this song comes off as 'arrogant' but it's not, because 'I'm Gammon'.

"Gammon means 'not true', tongue in cheek vibes. The interesting thing was that I wasn't sure if it was spelt as Gammin or Gammon - is it 'in', or is it 'on'?"

In order to solve this problem, J-Milla took to an instagram poll where his fans voted 53 to 47 per cent in favour of 'Gammon'.

In November, J-MILLA is set to make a notable return to Wadeye in the Northern Territory, coinciding with Yidiyi Day, which is the community's first-ever festival.

The lineup for this event includes J-MILLA and his brother, YUNG MILLA, along with other artists like Radical Son and Kootsie Don where shows in Queensland (QLD) and New South Wales (NSW) have also been announced.

J-MILLA already made history earlier this year with a performance in Wadeye as part of Reconciliation Week and the event was a part of TikTok's first-ever dedicated live stream from a remote Indigenous community.

"Last time I was on country here in Wadeye I made a shout-out to my brothers and sisters in music and sport to come up and show our love for our people, our communities because connection and celebration is what our mob needs right now and I can't wait to see Radical Son, Kootsie Don and the others on country with me next month," he added.
