Essendon have parted ways with father-son pick Tex Wanganeen as they waste no time on looking ahead to 2025 two days on from their season ending.

Sitting as high as second spot mid-way through the season, the Bombers registered just three wins from their final 10 games to crash out of contention and end the home-and-away rounds in 11th position on the ladder.

On Monday, alongside Nick Hind and Kaine Baldwin, the club confirmed Wanganeen was told he would not be offered a contract for next year after five senior games.

The son of Gavin Wanganeen, a Bombers premiership player, 1993 Brownlow Medallist and club-named member of their best ever 25 players list, arrived at the Hangar ahead of the 2022 season as a supplementary selection and broke into the senior side in the early rounds of the year.

The 20-year-old spent the majority of the previous two seasons in the VFL without adding to his AFL games tally form his debut year and endured a bad run of luck with injuries through his tenure.

"Nick, Tex and Kaine have all been popular members of our footy club who showed resilience and determination to get the most out of their footy careers during their time with us," Bombers general manager of AFL Daniel McPherson said on Monday, via the club.

"We thank them for their contribution to the red and black and they leave knowing they will always be a part of the Essendon footy club. We wish each of them all the best for the next stage of their careers both on and off the field."
