Donnell Wallam looks set to search for a new home after not being offered a contract for 2025 Super Netball season with the Queensland Firebirds.
The club announced the decision on Friday, saying the farewell was "simply a recruitment decision based on game style and strategy into the future".
Wallam arrived in Brisbane from English Superleague side Leeds Rhinos ahead of the 2022 season and produced a rapid rise to Diamonds selection in the same year.
Some speculation surrounded the 30-year-old's future at the club, and potential to look for a new home following the most recent season, over the previous year.
The late netball convert signed a one-year deal with the club in December.
Wallam shot more than 600 goals at 86 per cent through the 2024 season, where the Firebirds finished second bottom in seventh place after registering four wins.
"On behalf of the Queensland Firebirds, I'd like to sincerely thank Donnell and Remi for their contribution to the club, and for providing many memorable moments for our fans," Netball Queensland and Queensland Firebirds Chief Executive Kate Davies said.
Wallam shot 1744 goals with the Firebirds across three seasons.
"There is no doubt Donnell is a quality player and her Diamonds selection for 2024 supports that," Davies said.
"This is simply a recruitment decision based on game style and strategy into the future and I know Donnell will continue to shine wherever her future lies."
Alongside Wallam, goalkeeper Remi Kamo and Ali Miller will also depart the club.
Despite the news, Wallam's future in the national side looks stable after selection in the Diamonds 2024-25 squad in June.
On Friday, Australia head coach Stacey Marinkovich said she doesn't believe Wallam "has reached her ceiling" after producing a "strong" campaign in 2024.
"Donnell's presence on court epitomises the Suncorp Super Netball competition with her flair and energy. She's not a cookie cutter shooter, she provides an entertainment element to her game which fans have gravitated towards," Marchevic said.
"Donnell made her Suncorp Super Netball debut just three seasons ago in 2022. I don't believe she has reached her ceiling and she's continued to show incredible variation and growth in her game this year.
"She's had a strong Suncorp Super Netball season – she's ranked second in the competition for goals scored and offensive rebounds.
"We can't wait to see what excitement and flair Donnell can bring the Origin Australian Diamonds 2024-25 squad.
"We have made a commitment to Donnell, like we do with all our Diamonds, to provide the support and resources to ensure she reaches her potential and maximises selection opportunities."
Wallam has made six appearances for the Diamonds since her fairytale debut - where she scored a game-winning shot against England with seconds remaining in 2022.
