Port Adelaide wing Jase Burgoyne will miss his side's round 16 clash with St Kilda with a hamstring strain.

The unexpected news comes after the 20-year-old played 87 per cent game time in the Power's disastrous 79-point loss to Brisbane at the Adelaide Oval at the weekend.

Burgoyne collected 14 touches, laid five tackles and had two clearances in the loss which saw the pressure mount on the club and coach Ken Hinkley booed by fans.

Coming up against a St Kilda outfit fresh off the bye and having also dropping their most recent game to the Lions, Burgoyne's absence could prove a spanner in the visitor's work towards snapping a three-game losing streak at Marvel Stadium.

Burgoyne had a career-high 27 touches and played a starring role in Port's 10-point win over the Saints in round eight.

He is expected to be sidelined for up to a fortnight after scans revealed the strain earlier this week.

After being a late omission with a calf concern since being named to return from injury to line up with Brisbane, Willie Rioli is a test for fitness as a possibility to run out against the Saints.

At Carlton, Jack Martin has been back at full training capacity having largely recovered from his own calf injury suffered ahead of the Blues' Sir Doug Nicholls loss to Sydney in May.

The Blues expect Martin to be available for selection in two weeks time.

Martin has managed just one game in 2024 after an interrupted start to the season, kicking a goal during his only appearance in a narrow win over Melbourne in round 9 before returning to the sidelines.
