Whether striving to be sustainably savvy or aiming to save money, garment hiring is one business model that lends itself to both.
Whilst the hiring of garments has always been quite trendy within the fashion industry, 2023 has seen the trend spike in popularity once again with various Australian retailers now offering this option to consumers.
As the end-of-year festivities, events and celebrations draw nearer, hiring has become an attractive money and time-saving alternative for consumers and brands alike.
Aware of this, popular First Nations fashion brand, Kirrikin, recently announced they have joined the cohort of Australian fashion brands offering dress hiring services.
"With a seamless online platform, selecting and receiving your dress hire has never been easier," says the Kirrikin team.
Since founder Amanda Healy launched the eponymous fashion brand in 2014, Kirrikin's digitally-printed garments have remained in high demand.
And now with the introduction of the brand's hiring service, Healy and the team are hoping to appeal to a broader market, both locally and overseas.
"This (the business's expansion into hiring) is part of our sustainability measures… people have been asking for ages if they can rent our garments, particularly the evening wear," Kirrikin founder Amanda Healy told Style Up.

With an elegance meets convenience approach to this aspect of the business, Kirrikin launched the business hiring service with the hopes of providing consumers with a fashionable, money-saving alternative, that is as easy to use as it sounds.
With customers able to choose their preferred garment size and hiring period – either 3 or 7 days – the Australian fashion brand has successfully taken the stress out of an otherwise stressful multi-step hiring process.
Another additional perk of the hiring process is that dry-cleaning prices are already included in the hiring price, meaning there is no need for consumers to have to take their hired garment to be dry-cleaned.
With both the Ripples collection and evening wear dresses available for worldwide hire and delivery, consumers outside of Australia are also encouraged to embrace this new aspect of the brand, may they too have an upcoming event or celebration.
"Our exclusive collection features a range of stunning dresses for every event," says the Kirrikin team.
Being able to hire, wear and enjoy the brand's garments, without the commitment of ownership also enables a broader range of consumers, stylists, and industry societies to connect with the brand and wear or feature a slice of the infamous Kirrikin collection.

Continuing to make headlines for their stunning garments, and advocacy towards First Nations fashion, this business expansion is just one of many ways Kirrikin remains at the forefront of industry trends, both on and off the runway.
