Warumilang has opened expressions of interest for its 2026 intake of the Indigenous Cadetship Program, which supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander university students to complete an undergraduate degree while gaining paid professional experience.
The program combines study support with 50 days of paid work per calendar year, allowing cadets to build practical skills within the organisation alongside their studies.
Cadets gain paid industry experience aligned with their field of study, access to an Indigenous mentor and opportunities to develop professional networks.
Financial support is provided through a study allowance of up to $6,815 per semester, along with a book allowance of $524.
The Indigenous Cadetship Program is open to eligible students across Australia.
Applicants must be of Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander descent, identify as Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander and be accepted as such by the community in which they live or have lived.
Applicants must be Australian residents enrolled in their first undergraduate degree at an Australian university.
Students must also be studying full time, defined as at least 75 per cent of a full-time study load, unless they are in their final year.
Applications can be made by completing the Expression of Interest form on the AFL SportsReady website.
Shortlisted applicants will be contacted to discuss the next stage of the process.
