Young Davie to headline AROB celebration

He is no stranger to Pacific music, especially in Melanesia.

Originally from Isabel Province, meet Young Davie from Honiara, Solomon Islands.

He is one of the many Solomon Islands artists who are making waves in the Pacific music industry to date.

Young Davie, known off stage as David Bogese, will be singing and celebrating the Autonomous Region of Bougainville Day at the Cosmopolitan Night Club on Friday night.

The performance is in collaboration with the Bougainville Association.

Young Davie will be the highlight of the night. He is not new to PNG and the Pacific as his songs have hit every Pacific Island country far and wide.

His family name is David Bogese but uses his stage name as Young Davie.

"I got the name Young Davie from me singing at a young age so back then because I was young and my name was David I came up with the name Young Davie," he said.

"This has been my stage name since then."

He produced his first album at the age of 11 years old. Most of his songs have become hits in the Pacific, such as Lele, Ulawaflawa, to name one.

"This is my third time to PNG and I always love coming here. I am privileged to be flown here to celebrate the Bougainvillean day," Young Davie said.

"We from Solomon Islands and we are not far from Bougainville so I am happy to be here. They are our closes neighbours."

On Friday night, Young Davie will belt out 10 of his best songs, with other PNG artists.

Apart from other artists in Solomon Islands, Young Davie has excelled in education.

He has Bachelor in communication and double major in management & public administration, human resource management, and employment relations.

"I have been a working as sales and marketing for South Pacific Oil Limited for nine years. I have resigned now and focusing more on my music," he said.

Young Davie's other nickname is Happy Man.

"Yes I am a happy man. I encourage all Papua New Guineans to come and celebrate AROB day and celebrate and be happy. Come be happy always be happy. PNG, let's be happy!," he said.
