Kuwarna (Adelaide Crows) defender Wayne Milera has penned a three-year extension to remain at the club.

After 11 years the 27-year-old notched 100 games for the club in the opening round of the season.

A Central Districts SANFL product, his career has been cruelled by injuries, managing just one season over 20 games and the bulk of 2024 with a patella tendon injury.

Previously out of contract at the end of 2025, the extension locking him in until the end of the 2028 season.

The same serious knee injury on the other rubbed him out for the entire 2021 campaign.

"It's great to be playing week in, week out this season and the body is feeling really good," Milera said via the club on Thursday.

"I've obviously had some challenges physically over the past couple of seasons but the support I've received from the guys, and the Club in general, has been incredible.

"I absolutely love this group and I think we are heading in the right direction so I'm looking forward to seeing what we can achieve together."

Kuwarna general manager list management and strategy, Justin Reid expressed his plaudits.

"There is no doubting Wayne's talent and ability to influence games and with an injury free run, we can see him taking his game to another level," Reid said.

"He's got the trust and respect of his teammates and his creativity and composure with the ball in hand adds an important dimension to our backline."

Kuwarna favourite Eddie Betts will be back at Adelaide Oval on Sunday for his former side's bout with Waalitj Marawar (West Coast).

The Eddie Betts Foundation Youth Talent Academy faces a Sports College SA side in a curtain raiser on the day.

Betts said it we be a special special experience at a ground which serves him "cherished memories".

"Having gained so much from football, I want to leave a legacy that's built on giving, opening doors, building bridges, and creating a future where our young ones can thrive," the former Crows forward said.

"The young people in our Academy are not only talented footballers but also strong leaders within their communities, and this shows through their dedication and commitment to the program.

"The opportunity to play a match before an AFL game allows them to immerse themselves in an elite environment and experience the atmosphere of Adelaide Oval.

"We are proud to come together with the Adelaide Football Club for this occasion, in creating opportunities through our shared love of footy."

Kuwarna said the club are continually looking at ways to strengthen its connection, with past players and the Showcase Game amplifying the work of the Eddie Betts Foundation while aligning with its existing community programs.

"Not only is Eddie a much loved and celebrated former player, he is widely respected and admired for the work he does for Aboriginal youth and in the broader football community," chief executive Tim Silvers said.

"We want as many footy fans as possible to get along to the game and support the next generation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander football talent, who will showcase their skills."
