Casey Donovan is set to headline a much-loved piece of theatre with a special cause.
The former Australian Idol finalist, television star and darling of the arts will take the stage for Songs of Hope with a chorus of the country's best artists to raise awareness and funds for the Queensland Performing Arts Centre's HEAL (Healing through Expressive Arts and Learning).
The charitable initiative provides expressive arts therapies to more than 270 young people from refugee backgrounds in the state.
"I feel honoured to be part of the 2023 Songs Of Hope and to help raise funds through the arts for young people from refugee backgrounds in Australia. What a great way to bring people together and showcase amazing talent and for such a great cause," Ms Donovan said.
Songs of Hope had spent two years on the back-burner through the pandemic. Proceeds from each ticket sold goes towards their work.
Donovan joins Matt Hsu's Obscure Orchestra, electronic duo Zemzemeh, hip hop visionary Ozi Jarel, singer-songwriter Menaka Thomas, accompanied by Meg Burstow and Tsoof Baras, Multicultural Australia and QPAC's MOSIAC Choir for the event.
Tickets are available online now for Songs of Hope at QPAC's Concert Hall in Brisbane on June 6.
