Former AFL player Josh Hill has been stood down from his youth-involved role with the First Peoples' Assembly of Victoria after being charged with alleged child sex offences.

First reported by the West Australian at the weekend, Hill faced a Perth court in relation to mutiple charges - including multiple counts of allegedly sexually penetrating a child over 13 and under 16 in Western Australia between December and January 2015-16.

The alleged offences are timed during his playing years at the Eagles.

Hill, who has also recently gone by the surname Carter, was made to forfeit his working with children card and instructed to hand his passport into a Victorian court within bail conditions which included a $2000 surety, according to reports.

On Monday an Assembly spokesperson said the former footballer had been stood down immediately from his role.

The 36-year-old had worked there as a youth coordinator.

"We have been informed of a matter involving serious interstate criminal charges relating to an employee," the spokesperson said.

"We are very concerned about this news. The employee has been stood down immediately."

"We were not aware of these charges until now, we understand they relate to alleged events in 2015. Assembly staff have been informed."

The spokesperson said the Assembly are committed to "ensuring that everyone feels safe and is safe" within the body at both work and at their events.

In relation to the recent allegations against Hill, they said :"Whilst we are not aware of any information impacting on the Assembly's work, we will thoroughly monitor and review the situation as we consider how best to support our communities.

"We do not intend to comment in the media any further at this stage while the legal process runs its course"

Hill played 173 AFL games across periods at the Western Bulldogs and West Coast between 2007-2017.

On Monday, local club Point Cook - who compete in Melbourne's Western Region Football League, confirmed they had also parted ways with Hill.

The club had announced his signing for 2025 last month.

"The Point Cook Football Club's Executive were yesterday made aware of developments and met this morning in relation to senior men's player Josh Hill; including that he has been charged by Western Australian Police with offences that are now before the Courts," they said in a statement.

"This is a very serious matter and it is being treated as such by the Club.

"Josh Hill has been stood down as a senior player and we have rescinded his playing contract and his transfer from his previous club has been cancelled."

Hill is expected to appear in WA court in April.
