Gugu Yalanji songman, JUNGAJI, is set to perform on the Archie Roach Stage at this year's Port Fairy Folk Festival.

The announcement comes as Jungaji and his band tour Australia, marking the launch of their new single, 'Renaissance Rambler,' scheduled for release on March 1.

ARIA Award winner Cody McWaters, known for his work with artists like King Stingray, The Chats, Selfish Sons, Osaka Punch, and Rewiggled, produced 'Renaissance Rambler'.

The single was recorded at Hunting Ground Studios in Brisbane.

'Renaissance Rambler,' departs from the soulful RnB style of Jungaji's releases last year, such as 'Wakka Wakka Woman' and 'Pilbara Man' singles.

The song narrates an ancestral struggle for social justice and human rights among Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Jungaji, embodying the role of a renaissance rambler, traverses the country, engaging in intellectual and cultural pursuits while advocating for Indigenous community well-being.

His commitment revolves around modern-era values of equality and cultural respect, continuing the ongoing fight for justice.

"This song is an ode to my grandfather Pastor Don Brady," he said.

"He was a philosopher, an innovator and a social rights activist who under the guise of the church had the opportunity to engage with other Aboriginal peoples throughout QLD and NSW when it was illegal for blackfullas to congregate and discuss matters relating to the advancement of Aboriginal affairs."

"Particularly at a time when blackfullas were governed under the Aboriginal Protection Act."

Following a profound cultural transformation, he has embraced a deep understanding of his identity.

Now, dedicated to sharing his authentic voice and artistic testimony, Jungaji is committed to expressing his cultural richness with the world.

"It is with absolute pride that I continue to carry Grandfathers' spears and legacy in ensuring his testimony amongst many other great leaders of that time is shared with our younger generations and the broader public, and that his achievements are celebrated," he said.

Fans can pre-save the 'Renaissance Rambler' online.
