Young Eagle Tyrell Dewar has become West Coast's first Rising Star nomination for 2025, earned following his strong showing against Carlton on Sunday afternoon.

Dewar, 21, collected a career-high 27 touches and took nine marks across the contest, his 18th AFL game, in West Coast's 34 point loss.

His previous best, 21 disposals, was reached the previous week against North Melbourne.

Against the Blues, Dewar also lodged a game-high 843 metres gained and two goal assists in another tough afternoon for West Coast, headlined by mid-season draft pick Tom McCarthy's starring debut.

"It was one of my goals at the start of the year to get a Rising Star," Dewar said on Monday.

"I'm stoked that I got it."

The Kalgoorlie product, via Mines Rovers footy club in WA's Goldfields League and Subiaco, is a promising Eagles Next Generation (Naitanui) Academy graduate.

Dewar made his senior debut for West Coast in the first half of last season before ending the year with seven appearances.

He's been a constant figure in 2025, playing 11 games so far, including a strong 20-touch, two goal performance against defending premiers Brisbane at the Gabba earlier in the season.

Dewar penned a three-year extension to remain at the club until at least the end of 2028 last month.

"I played as a forward all last year, played seven games and I wanted to come back to pre-season in good nick and impress the new coach, 'Mini'," Dewar said, via the club on Monday.

"He said he saw me on the wing and half-back.

"First half against Carlton I was in the backline and then I got the call up to go to the wing in the second half. That was a good move, I loved it there.

"I tried to pull off a few kicks, some didn't work but some did. I reckon that's my main danger - taking on those kicks."

The Eagles have the bye this weekend before returning to face current ladder-leaders Collingwood in Round 16.
