Hawthorn's Chad Wingard has undone surgery on Monday following a horror incident in his side's loss to GWS in Adelaide on Sunday.
The 29-year-old suffered a lacerated tongue after copping a wayward arm to the mouth in a marking contest during the second term.
Wingard boarded on a plane to Melbourne shortly after leaving the ground early.
Chad Wingard was subbed out after a needing some work done on his tongue following this incident.

Hawks coach Sam Mitchell gave his sympathies to their mercurial forward following the squeamish incident.
"I saw him at half-time and gave him a bit of a cuddle, but I think he's got a lacerated tongue which needs surgery, so that sounds horrible to me," he said after the match.
"He'll head back to Melbourne tonight with some of the staff. To be honest, lacerated tongue surgery, I've never heard of that before, but I can imagine it's not feeling that great for him.
"They had to take him to hospital. They were waiting for the transport at half-time, so I quickly saw him then, and he's gone to hospital. I don't have all the details, but lacerated tongue surgery sounds nasty to me."
Wingard has already missed a stint of football in 2023 with a lower body niggle.
The Hawks have not yet earmarked a return date following the nasty injury, but are expected to give some idea in the coming days he recovers from surgery.
