Bourke Aboriginal Corporation Health Service has appointed Justine Williams as the service's new deputy chief executive officer.
Ms Williams is a proud Ngemba woman with more than 15 years' experience working within the Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation sector.
The Bourke Aboriginal Corporation Health Service (BACHS) board said on Tuesday that her leadership is "grounded in lived experience, cultural responsibility and a strong focus on improving access to culturally safe, community-led health and wellbeing services".
The board described Ms Williams as "a strong advocate for Aboriginal communities" who has "built trusted relationships across the sector."
"She has a deep passion for supporting and mentoring the next generation of Aboriginal health, with a focus on long-term outcomes for community."
In her role as deputy CEO, Ms Williams will support the executive leadership of BACHS and contribute to organisational planning, workforce development, and service delivery in line with community priorities.
"My priority for Bourke is simple; Strong, culturally safe services led by community, real pathways for our people to grow and lead, and long-term healing that keeps families and our young ones strong," she said.
BACHS board chairperson James Moore said the appointment reflects the organisation's "focus on leadership that is grounded in community knowledge and cultural responsibility".
"Justine brings extensive experience within the ACCHO sector and a clear commitment to community-led health services," he said.
"Her leadership will support BACHS as it continues to serve the Bourke community."
BACHS provides a range of health and wellbeing services to the local community and surrounding regions. The board said the appointment of Ms Williams supports the organisation's ongoing focus on culturally safe care and community-controlled service delivery.
BACHS provides primary health and dental care for the Bourke community. Services include GP clinics, dental, social and emotional wellbeing, mental health, allied health and transport support. BACHS operates from 61 Oxley Street, Bourke, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.
