Fremantle skipper and Palawa man Alex Pearce says he sees bright signs at the Dockers after re-signing with the club until the end of 2027.
The key defender was due to be out of contract at the end of the 2025 season before putting pen-to-paper on a two-year extension this week.
Interestingly, the Tasmanian's new deal expires before his home state's expansion side enters the competition for the 2028 season.
Speaking with Fremantle media, Pearce said "I'm probably enjoying my footy as much as I ever have" in the west, and the club "is the place I want to be" while forecasting a bright future.
"Where I am at the moment with my role and the people we've got around the footy club…I just really love spending time with (the playing group, coaches and staff), and really love working towards achieving something really special," he said.
Pearce missed the bulk of the end of last year with a fractured arm, damaged in a short return during round 19.
His absence coincided with the Dockers slipping out of the eight after losing five of their last seven games, something Pearce sees changing.
"At the moment, we've got a list where there's not just 22-26 players that are fighting for a spot," Pearce said.
"We've got 30-odd pushing on 40 that are really hungry and desperate to play.
And that makes an environment where everyone's trying to get the very most out of themselves. And it's elevating the level that we're competing at."
Before next pulling on the Dockers' jumper, Pearce will run out against teammates with the Indigenous All Stars in Perth on February 15.
Pearce said "it'll be interesting" to see how fan allegiance plays out for himself and Dockers' Indigenous All Stars squad members Shai Bolton and Michael Walters on the night.
"It'll just be a good celebration, and to have that Indigenous team all together playing, I think it'll be a good spectacle and I hope that plenty of people come out and watch," he said.
