Funding opportunities are open for organisations to improve the vibrancy and wellbeing of remote and rural communities across Western Australia.
Successful applicants can receive partnership grants up to $10,000 or $50,000 if servicing multiple regional communities through Horizon Power's Community Partnerships funding program.
WA's biggest regional energy supplier has announced its latest round of funding will provide $450,000 in total to regional organisations whose initiatives and events have positive community impacts.
One program Horizon Power is supporting is the 'Connect and Grow' Blazers Basketball initiative (part of its Mulya Tjitji (Good Kids) Program).
The $10,000 partnership to develop community sport in Leonora will also support inter-town competitions and tournaments, training, logistics and sports equipment.
Horizon's program provides $1.1 million each financial year, with more than $4.5m awarded over 450 initiatives in regional WA since 2020.
The 2024 round of funding has so far provided $468,888 to 57 regional WA community organisations.
In July 2023, Horizon Power delivered power to 117 Aboriginal communities in remote WA, and has since supported more remote regions with $45,000 in partnerships with organisations, including Kimberley Aboriginal Law and Culture Centre, Far North Community Services and Mulan Aboriginal Corporation.
Horizon Power CEO Stephanie Unwin said the regional energy provider was committed to supporting regional and remote communities and proud of the strong relationships it has with community partners.
"The relationships we have with our regional communities are invaluable," Ms Unwin said.
"The Community Partnerships Program is a way for us to strengthen these relationships, working together to achieve shared goals and create lasting impacts.
"Our towns are made up of so many passionate people who work tirelessly to support their communities.
"The programs and events they run are making a real difference to the lives of many people and we are proud to be able to support them."
Applications for the latest round of partnerships close on August 19. Successful grant recipients will be announced in October.
Applications are now being accepted online.
