Essendon have made it two-nil in Dreamtime matches for 2023 after downing Richmond by 17 points in AFLW Indigenous round's marquee fixture.

It's the Bombers first win over the Tigers after joining the competition last year, and strengthened their push for finals with three games remaining for the home-and-away season in the process.

Passionate fans filed into Princes Park in Narrm on Saturday evening for a genuine eight-shaper.

Despite a perfect start for Richmond with Emelia Yassir hitting the scoreboard inside 30 seconds, the Bombers replied with four first-term majors and led at each change to run out 8.5 (53) - 5.6 (33) winners.

The Tigers did fight back to draw the margin within a quick part-way through the third quarter threatening to deliver a second Dreamtime nail-biter for the year.

Essendon snatched a one-point victory with a dying stages goal in the men's corresponding Sir Doug Nicholls Round match in May.

It wasn't to be, with the Bombers running away with what could prove crucial percentage points after a fourth quarter arm wrestle to sweep the two clubs' Indigenous round contests for bragging rights until 2024.

Maddy Prespakis dominated through the centre with 24 touches and a goal to go with it for the winning side.

Yassir ended her night with three goals in a losing effort.

Earlier on Saturday, AFLW season seven best-and-fairest Ally Anderson took home the QClash medal in her Lions' 36-point thumping of neighbours Gold Coast on Yugambeh country.

Anderson collected 27 touches and had nine score involvements in the 8.9 (57) to 3.3 (21) win.

Courtney Hodder's grab in the final minute of the contest is a genuine sniff for mark of the year.

The win keeps Brisbane in the top four with finals approaching after falling short of Melbourne in last season's grand final.
