The Victorian Government has opened a new round of the state's Aboriginal Sport Participation Grant Program to support Indigenous athletes with uniforms, equipment, travel and participation costs across community sport.

The program provides up to $1,000 for team uniforms and equipment and up to $2,500 to help clubs travel to Victorian and national carnivals and competitions.

Individuals can receive up to $250 for uniforms and equipment and up to $750 to support their own travel expenses.

Minister for Treaty and First Peoples, Natalie Hutchins, said the program recognises the achievements of Indigenous athletes.

"First Nations athletes are achieving incredible things on the national and international stage, and we're proud to back their journey with these grants," she said.

This support sits alongside the Victorian Aboriginal Sporting Partnership, which aims to increase opportunities and strengthen pathways for Aboriginal athletes in community sport.

The previous round delivered more than $67,000, including assistance for Mildura's Mallee Tigers Football Netball Club to send seven junior teams to the 2025 VACSAL Statewide Junior Football and Netball Carnival in Shepparton.

Glenroy Calisthenics Club also received funding to supply uniforms for junior participants competing at events including the Calisthenics Victoria State Titles.

Since 2020, the program has provided more than 500 grants to community sport clubs and Indigenous people, helping build stronger connections between community sport and Indigenous communities across Victoria.

Victorian Minister for Community Sport, Ros Spence, said the grants give First Nations athletes greater access to major events.

"These grants support First Nations athletes to compete at the big events and take their performance to the next level," she said.

Applications for the current round can be made online.
