On Sunday, the Koorie Academy and The Long Walk hosted their second annual basketball skills clinic at Essendon Football Club's facility, 'The Hanger.'
The event saw more than 60 children, aged three to 18, participate in basketball drills and games in a culturally supportive environment.
The clinic, led by KA head coach Uncle Ricky Baldwin and his team—Bianca, Nick, Katie, Mitch, and Jida—included conditioning exercises, shooting techniques, and games like knockout and running races.

Uncle Ricky highlighted the importance of the clinic and the strong partnership with The Long Walk (TLW), noting the unique experience offered by 'The Hanger.'
The venue, where Essendon Football Club players train, added excitement to the event.
Steve Parker from Millowl Dreaming conducted a cultural workshop, providing insights into Aboriginal culture and enhancing the clinic experience.
TLW general manager Aunty Leanne Brooke expressed her pleasure in reconnecting with familiar faces and welcoming new participants.
Parents, many of whom are Essendon supporters, enjoyed seeing their children in world-class facilities.

Prizes included a signed 2024 Essendon football and jersey, limited edition Michael Long footies, and Long Walk showbags.
Participants also had a healthy lunch from Subway and fresh fruit from M&M Fruit at Preston Market.
Organisers expressed thanks to Aunty Leanne Brooke, Jenaya, and the TLW team for their support.
The Koorie Academy and TLW collaboration continues to merge sports with cultural enrichment, with plans for the next clinic in 2025.
