Gamilaroi man Mitch Tambo will appear at the Men of Bourke Forum 2025, a two-day event focused on men's identity, wellbeing and healing.

The forum will take place from 16–17 June at Bourke Christian Church and is led by Bourke Aboriginal Corporation Health Service (BACHS), working in partnership with local community organisations.

Tambo is scheduled to speak on Tuesday 17 June during the morning session and will also perform in the evening as part of his national 'I Am Me' tour.

Known for blending traditional language and storytelling with contemporary music, Tambo uses his platform to encourage honest conversation and cultural pride.

Drawing on his background as a social worker, Tambo said his presentations aim to create safe environments where people can open up and reflect on life experiences.

"I'm always open about the challenges I've faced and how I've gotten to where I am today - a music artist and proud family man," he said.

"My visits are safe spaces for important discussions."

Now in its second year, the Men of Bourke Forum builds on the success of the 2024 event, which brought together men from across the region for two days of workshops, open dialogue, and cultural activities.

This year's program includes keynote talks, panel discussions, creative sessions, and roleplay exercises focused on topics such as conflict resolution, grief, and identity.

BACHS acting chief executive officer Jay Forrester said the forum is designed to support men in a culturally grounded setting.

"This forum is about healing, it's about truth and it's about standing strong in culture," Mr Forrester said.

"Mitch brings a message that aligns with all of that. He speaks to the power of story and identity, and we're proud to have him as part of this year's event."

Tambo's involvement in the forum comes during a packed national tour schedule.

His 'I Am Me' schools tour has taken him to youth hubs, schools and learning centres across the country, where he shares stories about resilience, healing and cultural strength.

The tour includes music performances, workshops and storytelling designed to connect with young people at a personal level.

BACHS is a community-run primary health care provider delivering culturally appropriate medical and dental services in Bourke and surrounding areas.
