Richmond premiership player Marlion Pickett has been granted bail by a Perth magistrate and will return to Melbourne after being remanded by WA police in connection to a series of alleged burglary-related incidents at the weekend.

Pickett was taken into custody Sunday night facing allegations of his involvement in multiple counts of aggravated burglary, stealing and criminal damage during commercial burglaries between December and January.

According to reports, the 31-year-old was made aware detectives wanted to speak with him mid-way through last week and opted to meet following the Tigers' Saturday night match against Fremantle.

He was arrested after making a statement on Sunday.

In a separate statement released that night, Pickett's manager Anthony Van Der Wielen said his client had a "strong intent to defend himself against the charges".

Facing the magistrate on Monday, Pickett was granted bail after Erin O'Donnell deemed he was not a flight risk despite the seriousness of the allegations.

Police prosecutors told the court the offences allegedly involving the footballer and others resulted in more than $380,000 in Australian and foreign currencies being taken from safes, and opposed bail, arguing there was a risk of reoffending if Pickett was released.

According to reports, Pickett's lawyer David Manera said the case against his client relied on allegations of deposits made by co-offenders into his bank account and a vehicle rented under his name was driven across state lines by others.

Manera pointed to the lack of forensic evidence against Pickett, and his decision not to travel home with teammates to instead attend a pre-arranged meeting with police.

Pickett's bail was granted on conditions he resides at his address in Melbourne, reports to a local police station weekly and provides a $50,000 personal surety and does not interact with any alleged co-offenders.

He is due to face court again in August.
