A celebration of the rich cultural heritage and contemporary artistic expression of Aboriginal artists from Australia's south-east region, SOUTHEAST Aboriginal Arts Market will return from 23–24 November.

Hosted at Carriageworks in Sydney, on Gadigal Country, SOUTHEAST is curated by renowned Wiradjuri and Kamilaroi artist Jonathan Jones.

The event showcases the rich artistic diversity of 32 independent Aboriginal artists and collectives from regional and coastal NSW, ACT, Victoria, the Murray–Darling basin, and Tasmania.

Thousands of artworks, including ceramics, jewellery, weaving, textiles, painting, and more, will be available for sale, with all proceeds going directly to the artists.

SOUTHEAST offers visitors the chance to meet artists, learn about their cultural practices, and invest in traditional and contemporary Aboriginal art.

The market also includes a public program featuring live workshops and talks. Highlights include a weaving workshop with Wiradjuri artist Jessika Spencer, storytelling and leather plaiting with Ngiyampaa man Uncle Tom Carney, and a hands-on demonstration with Barkindji artist David Doyle on plant knowledge.

Mr Jones said SOUTHEAST is a rare platform for south-east Aboriginal artists to connect with new audiences, share stories, and showcase their extraordinary work."

"SOUTHEAST gives visitors an opportunity to engage directly with local artists, have a yarn and purchase artworks, and provides a vital platform for artists to engage with new audiences," he said.

"It's fantastic to see the return of SOUTHEAST to Carriageworks this November, it has a significant impact for our artists and region."
