Port Adelaide look set to hit the Next Generation Academy jackpot with a number of talented young footballers accessible in this year's AFL Draft.
Headlining the list of players available to the Power is Benny Barrett – a lightning quick prospect from the Northern Territory with Papua New Guinean heritage.
Barrett was born in Australia to Papua New Guinean parents and was the fastest player tested at the SANFL's centre of excellence combine earlier in the year.
The 18-year-old has had a handful of eye-catching displays for SANFL club South Adelaide at reserves level and in the U18s throughout the season.
The left-footer finished the season in strong form and in Round 18 he produced a best-on-ground display in the reserves against Woodville West Torrens, collecting 29 disposals 14 clearances and eight tackles in wet conditions.
While possessing neat skills and sound decision making, arguably Barrett's best asset as a footballer is his defensive pressure and tackling ability.
An anonymous AFL recruiter recently told The Advertiser that Barrett was the pick of the bunch out of the Power's eligible academy players.
"Benny Barrett is their best out of the five," he said.
"He's got what you look for in a small forward – his power for his size is really good, he's hard to tackle at times, he can burst from congestion and push the pace."

"I think someone will take Barrett late, but if he gets through to the rookie draft … Port would be pretty happy."
South Adelaide talent manager Mark Clayton believes that Barrett has the potential to plat at AFL-level.
"I think he's got just as much potential as any of the father-sons involved at the Power at the moment," Clayton told The Advertiser.
"I think he's improved enormously this year and someone will give him an opportunity, even if Port don't."
Barrett has been on the radar of recruiters for a couple of years now having claimed the SANFL U16 best-and-fairest award in 2022.
Ky Burgoyne and Rome Burgoyne are also eligible to be selected by the Power at the end of the year.
The 18-year-old Ky is an athletic defender who made his SANFL League debut for Port Adelaide earlier in the season.
The son of AFL champion and 400-gamer Shaun Burgoyne, Ky is eligible to be selected under the father-son rule by both the Power and Hawthorn.
He has played 16 games for West Adelaide U18s in 2024 and averaged 15 disposals per game.
Rome Burgoyne - son of two-time Port premiership player (SANFL and AFL) Peter Burgoyne - has also had SANFL League experience in 2024 having debuted for Port Adelaide in Round 13.
The brother of Port Adelaide's Jase Burgoyne, Rome is a half back flanker who can read the game superbly and use the football well by hand or foot.
He has played nine games in the U18s competition for Woodville West Torrens and has averaged an impressive 22 disposals per game.
Louie Montgomery (son of Brett) and Oliver Francou (son of Josh) are two other father-son prospects that the Power may consider selecting.
