Kangaroos coach Mal Meninga has named Kotoni Staggs, Selwyn Cobbo and Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow to make their debuts in green-and-gold against Samoa on Saturday night.

The trio get their first crack in the Australian setup alongside Panthers fullback Dylan Edwards.

Staggs, who has previously played international football for Tonga, slots into centre alongside Tabuai-Fidow while Cobbo takes his place outside the Hammer on the wing.

All three have representative experience with both the Indigenous All Stars and their respective State of Origin sides - Staggs a Blue with the other two dominating with Maroons in recent series.

Te backline stars forced their way into the Kangaroos squad for the upcoming Pacific Championships after strong 2023 seasons at club land.

Staggs and Cobbo played in last week's losing grand final with the Broncos while Tabuai-Fidow stood out as amongst the season's shining lights in a respectable campaign with NRL incomers the Dolphins.

"The opportunity has come up for them to put the green and gold jersey on and I've got no doubt they'll all play really well for their country," Meninga said of the trio and Edwards.

"You can tell from their actions that they're excited about making their own mark at this level, while learning from some of the established players in the team.

"They're all great young men and talented players, and I'm confident you will see the best of them on Saturday."

After being brought into the side for the injured Nathan Cleary, Nicho Hynes was named at 18th man.

The Kangaroos face Samoa in Townsville on Saturday night.
