Carlton forward Jack Martin is unlikely to feature his side's semi final blockbuster against Melbourne next week after his loose hit on Sydney's Nick Blakey on Friday night.
Martin met the Swans defender with a swinging right hand to the chin and was slapped with a two-match from the AFL's Match Review Officer.
The incident came just minutes into Carlton's 11.8 (74) - 9.14.(68) win in front of 92,000 at the MCG.
The high blow was graded careless conduct, high impact and high contact.
Blakey was able to play out the game after passing concussion protocols.
Carlton will likely contest the result, but will struggle to downgrade Bedford's charge enough to avoid a stint on the sidelines.
The disappointment comes after making a major impact on the Blues' first finals win in a decade, kicking second and third quarter goals, and reeling in two huge grabs inside the defensive 50 as the Swans threatened to pinch a thrilling comeback win.
Martin's first major was Carlton's third consecutive as they piled on the points in the second term, with his second a set shot on the angle after a diving mark, and a much needed momentum breaker as the Swans made a charge back into the contest after half time.
Martin also played a hand in Carlton's would-be sealer.
After mopping up a ground ball he delivered a desperate handball to gift teammate Blake Acres to run into an empty goal square.

Although unable to capitalise on a barrage of forward entries in the final term, Sydney came within a kick by full time.
Martin made two crucial jumps at the ball to mark inside the Swans' 50 in the final minutes to shut down any chance of a last-gasp win.
His elimination final performance came after a string of good form through the later stages of the home and away season.
The 28-year-old told Seven "the atmosphere was electric" after the match.
"Everytime I took a mark I didn't know what to do with it, it was that loud," Martin said.
He said he knew the contest was going to be about the "big moments".
The MRO have not offered Carlton the option of an early plea for Martin's hit.
