Sharks half Nicho Hynes is free to play in Saturday's sudden death final against the Roosters after a shock downgrade of his judiciary charge by the NRL following input from a rival club.
Hynes was hit with a one match suspension on Sunday, potentially two weeks if unsuccessfully appealed, for his hip drop tackle on Canterbury's Marcelo Montoya during the final round of the home and away season.
The NRL announced on Monday a medical report provided by the Bulldogs prompted a review of the incident from the judiciary, with Hynes now cleared.
"The Match Review Committee remains satisfied that there is sufficient evidence to justify a charge for the offence of Dangerous Contact against Nicho Hynes," a NRL statement read.
"When initially ascribing a grading to that offence, the MRC considered the contents of a Medical Report provided by the injured player's Club which offered preliminary details as to the nature and extent of the injury.
"Subsequently, the Match Review Committee has received a further report which materially alters the nature and extent of the injury suffered by the player."
The Sharks had reportedly been tossing up their chance of fighting the dangerous contact charge to keep the playmaker's hopes of lining up against the Roosters alive.
Cronulla qualified in fifth - only missing a top four spot on percentage behind Brisbane, locking in an elimination final against a tri-colours outfit in threatening form.
Off the back of two 30 point wins against the Storm in Melbourne and over arch-rivals Souths at the weekend, taking points five from their last six outings, the Rooster pinched the final spot in the top eight.
The Sharks are in some form themselves. A 31-18 win over the Roosters in July sits within seven successes from their last eight games heading into finals.
