The door on Tarryn Thomas' AFL career may not have entirely closed just yet, according to reports.

St Kilda have confirmed they met with former North Melbourne player this week - five months on from the Roos tearing up his contract and after he was handed a lengthy ban by the AFL after being found guilty of several conduct breaches following a string of alleged behavioural problems involving women.

In May, Thomas was charged with alleged harassment and beaching a court order with a court date set for November.

On Wednesday, Nine's Tom Morris reported Saints head of talent and acquisition Graeme 'Gubby' Allen had met for lunch with Thomas in Melbourne.

"Gubby has a lot of lunches and this was just another one", St Kilda said in a statement, according to Nine.

In February, North president Dr Sonja Hood declared Thomas was "out of chances", with football operations manager Todd Viney stating they had provided him "with significant time, resources and support but we've now arrived at a point where the individual's needs don't match those of the club" leading them to making a "simple decision" on his permanent exit.

A leaked email from Dr Hood in the lead up to a league-wide stance in unity against gender-based violence in May revealed the club "were not able to meaningfully change his behaviour" after multiple attempts.

In the months since, there have been rumours of some club interest in Thomas for a career resurrection.
