Bangarra Dance Theatre is now accepting applications for the 2025 Russell Page Graduate dancers and professionally contracted dancer positions.
The Russell Page Graduate Program offers Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander dance graduates or emerging artists the chance to enhance their skills as professional dancers by receiving training and guidance.
All while participating as part of the ensemble for various performances and tours. This role is a paid, full-time position available to individuals aged 18 to 23.
This year, the company will also conduct auditions for professionally contracted dancer positions, available to individuals aged 18 and older. Those selected for both roles will begin their tenure in January 2025.
Launched in 2015, the Russell Page Graduate Program has enabled more than 20 emerging artists to embark on their initial professional careers with Bangarra. Among the current ensemble of 16 dancers, 9 have joined the company as graduates of the Russell Page program.
The Program is dedicated to Russell Page, a distinguished descendant of the Nunukul people and the Munaldjali clan of the Yugambeh nation in South-East Queensland. As the younger brother of David and Stephen Page, Russell was an exceptionally gifted artist, and his legacy endures powerfully.
His performances captivated audiences, and as a colleague, he served as a source of inspiration. His twelve-year tenure with the Company has left an indelible mark that will persist and continue to motivate future generations.
The deadline for applications is 2 September 2024, and auditions will take place at Bangarra's studio in Sydney's Walsh Bay Arts Precinct on Tuesday 17 September.
