Grammy nominated, multi-platinum and chart-topping superstar The Kid LAROI has been announced as the headline entertainment act for this year's NRL and NRLW grand final.
A proud Kamilaroi man and die-hard South Sydney Rabbitohs fan who grew up in Sydney's southern suburbs, The Kid LAROI was announced as the headline act for the NRL's season finale by the league on Wednesday.
From his current base in Los Angeles, The Kid LAROI said returning home to combine his love of rugby league and performing live will be nothing short of a career highlight.
"As a young kid growing up in Sydney, I would drive past Rabbitohs training at Redfern Oval dreaming of playing Rugby League and making music and now I'm going to have this pinch myself moment of playing my music in front of a roaring crowd of Rugby League fans on Grand Final day. It really doesn't get much better than that," he said.
Having recently released the deluxe version of his hit album, THE FIRST TIME and completing the North American leg of THE FIRST TIME TOUR - packing venues in 31 cities - Laroi's return to Australia in October will be somewhat of an overdue return for the young singer.
Returning with special guests Quavo and ONEFOUR for a massive arena run, Laroi is set to engage and entertain the Aussie crowd.
National Rugby League chief executive officer Andrew Abdo said The Kid LAROI is an Australian who is now a hugely successful artist making it big on a global stage.
Abdo said his success, combined with his passion for rugby league and global appeal has made him the perfect fit to front the NRL's grand final entertainment in 2024.
"The Kid LAROI personifies the energy, excitement and ambition of Rugby League as we celebrate the end of another record-breaking season and look to take Rugby League to new frontiers in the future," Abdo said.
"He is one of the biggest music stars on the planet, and he also has Rugby League in his DNA having grown up in South Sydney and followed his beloved Rabbitohs from a very young age. He is set to supercharge an unbelievable day of Grand Final football."
Since successfully entering the music and creative scene in 2021, The Kid LAROI's "Stay" and "Without You" combined boast more than four billion streams on Spotify and peaked at number 1 in multiple countries including the US.
With a down-to-earth nature and niche vocals, Laroi has earned several accolades and cemented his position as one of Australia's most celebrated First Nations musicians.
The NRL and NRLW grand finals are set to be held on Sunday 6 October at Sydney's Accor Stadium.
