As part of the River of Life Program run by the ABC Foundation, the Meekathara Community in Western Australia have released a catchy tune accompanied by a music video.

The new release is dedicated to Indigenous Elders in honour of this years NAIDOC theme.

Supporting the Meekathara community in the development of the music video was the team from Outback Tracks, Yulella Aboriginal Corporation and musician Adam Thompson.

Thompson is best known as the lead singer of the nineties band the Chocolate Starfish, a band that produced a number of iconic tunes including; 'Mountain' and a strong cover of Carly Simon's 'Your So Vain'.

The band received two Aria Nominations in their peak and Mr Thompson was renowned for his lively onstage performances.

'For Our Elders' is an uplifting tune that presents with what can only be described as an island pop hip-hop flavour beat with meaningful lyrics that incorporate traditional language to deliver a powerful message of culture, love, gratitude and respect.

The accompanying video was designed to showcase the strength, resilience and stability of Our Elders, which is difficult to watch without shedding a tear.

Run by the ABC Foundation, The River of Life program has been working with several communities, designed to engage local communities, youth and children to come together through music and to keep our kids off the street at night.

ABC Foundation Managing Director said "It's been fantastic to see the joy these music videos have bought to these regional communities and the pride everyone has in taking part."

"We're thrilled to have been able to create this one for NAIDOC week with the Meekatharra Community to celebrate Our Elders."
