Ahead of next month's national awards, the National NAIDOC committee has pledged its support for the Voice to parliament referendum.
Whilst acknowledging the different views held by the community, the committee said in a statement there are strong connections between the purpose of the Voice and this year's NAIDOC theme.
"One thing we can all agree on - is the importance of our Elders, which is why this year's NAIDOC theme is - For Our Elders," the committee said in a joint statement Monday.
"Our Elders who guide us and who paved the way for us to take the paths we can take today.
"Our Elders who fought for the rights to love."
"Their tenacity and strength has carried the survival of our people."
The committee said this year's theme pays homage to Indigenous Elders, encouraging others to do the same by voting 'yes' in the upcoming referendum.
"This years' theme honours the struggles of our Elders," the committee said.
"The equality we continue to fight for, is founded in their fight.
"Through our Elders' teachings we must ensure that when it comes to future decision-making for our people, there is nothing about us, without us."
"Say Yes."
National NAIDOC Week will be held from Sunday July 2 to Sunday July 2, with the annual NAIDOC Awards Ceremony to be held on Saturday July 1 in Meanjin (Brisbane).
The Voice to parliament referendum will be held between October and December of this year.
