The funeral of boxing champion and mentor Tony Mundine OAM, who passed away aged 75, will be broadcast by NITV on Facebook from 10.30am eastern time on Saturday, September 5.

In the event post, organisers wrote: "Join us as we honour the life and legacy of Australian Bundjalung boxing legend Uncle Anthony 'Tony' Mundine OAM."

"Tony's Sydney funeral service will be live on Facebook from 10.30am, in line with the Mundine families wishes," the post reads.

"Our thoughts remain with the family and all who knew and loved him.

"Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander viewers are advised that this livestream will contain images and voices of a person who has passed away."

Mr Mundine, the father of rugby league and boxing star Anthony Mundine, was the first Australian to fight in four different weight divisions.

Across an extraordinary career in the middleweight, light-heavyweight, cruiserweight and heavyweight divisions, the late Mr Mundine recorded 80 wins - 64 from knockouts, 15 losses, and one draw.

He held Australian titles in all four divisions, and in 1974 fought Argentina's Carlos Monzon for the World Boxing Association's middleweight title but lost in the seventh round due to a stoppage.

Mr Mundine's last professional bout was in 1984.

He was a tireless supporter of his son Anthony, and a key member of his team once the younger Mundine took a leap of faith from league to boxing.

Tony's grandson Rahim 'CJ' Mundine is also a boxer and currently has a 4-0 record.
