Brisbane defender Keidean Coleman has suffered another frustrating injury setback, this time sustaining a quad strain at training over the weekend.

Coleman made his long-awaited return from an ACL rupture in the Lions' 11-point win over Melbourne in Round 10.

He looked impressive against the Demons, collecting 19 disposals and six marks, but missed the following two games after experiencing soreness.

The Dalabon man is now set for another stint on the sidelines, with Brisbane confirming on Tuesday that the 25-year-old is expected to miss around five weeks.

"Coleman sustained a quad strain while training over the weekend and is expected to be sidelined for approximately five weeks and look to return after the bye," the club said.

Prior to his AFL return, Coleman featured in two matches at VFL level.

In other injury news, Carlton utility Zac Williams is back in full training after missing the past four matches with a calf strain.

He will be tested during the week in the hope of being available for Sunday night's clash against Essendon.

Over in the west, Fremantle's Quinton Narkle is ahead of schedule in his recovery from a knee injury sustained in the WAFL last month.

Initially expected to miss six to eight weeks, the former Geelong and Port Adelaide player could be available for the Dockers' Round 14 match against North Melbourne.

Veteran forward Michael Walters is also a chance to return after the bye.

The 34-year-old resumed full training duties this week and will be assessed next week ahead of the Kangaroos clash.

The timeline is less certain for skipper Alex Pearce, who continues to be monitored for a hot spot in his shin, with his return date still unclear.

Meanwhile, West Coast's Liam Ryan will be a test for this weekend after suffering a lower-leg injury in Sunday's loss to Geelong.

"Liam copped a knock to his lower leg early in the game against Geelong," Eagles High Performance Manager Mat Inness said.

"He was able to get through the game with full function, however he has pulled up sore post-game so will be a test this weekend."

In South Australia, Port Adelaide midfielder Jason Horne-Francis will miss this weekend's match against Greater Western Sydney, although the club is hopeful he'll return in Round 14 against Melbourne.
